December is here friends! Holiday cheer is in the air! The kids will be on winter break soon and some of us will be using up our vacation time. Check out these events in Portland you can attend when you get a case of cabin fever! Happy Holidays!

 

  • ZooLights
    • November 24th, 2017 to January 7th, 2018 (Closed December 24-25th and January 1-4th.)
    • ZooLights tickets are valid after 4 PM. ZooLight hours are 5 PM to 9 PM. (8 PM on Value Nights) Grounds remain open for one hour after gates close.
    • Oregon Zoo – 4001 SW Canyon Rd. Portland, OR 97221
      • It wouldn’t be the holidays in Portland without a visit to the Oregon Zoo’s annual winter festival, ZooLights. As you walk around the zoo, you’ll see a dazzling display of more than million and half lights, and experience your zoo in a whole new light. In addition to visiting elephants, penguins and other animals, you can ride the popular lighted train and enjoy dinner from a variety of food carts. Little ones may want to ride the carousel, and Santa will be available for photos each night. Please visit website for ticket pricing.

 

  • Festival of Lights at the Grotto
    • Daily, 5:00 PM to 9:30 PM
    • NE 85th & Sandy Blvd. Portland, OR 97220
      • A must-visit if you’re in Portland during the holiday season. The Festival of Lights at the Grotto is a spectacular event that features 150 indoor music concerts as well as dramatic living history enactments and holiday light displays that include over a half million bulbs. The beautiful outdoor garden setting, lighted Christmas trees and outdoor carolers create a warm holiday feel, and a life-sized nativity scene anchors the entire event. Outdoor tented family entertainment runs continuously each night in the plaza. The master puppeteer presents a Christmas themed show at 6:00, 7:00 and 8:00 p.m. The event runs the Friday after Thanksgiving thru December 30, nightly from 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. (Closed on Christmas day) Tickets cost between $5-$10 depending on age.

 

  • Portland Brands Holiday Fair
    • Tuesday, December 5th, 2017
    • 5:30 PM to 9:00 PM
    • Classic Foods – 817 NE Madrona St., Portland, OR 97211
      • Come celebrate some of the amazing food and beverage brands in Portland, and get ideas (both to gift and to serve!) for the holidays at this free event.

 

 

  • December Forum Breakfast: Uncorked: Oregon’s Leading Women in Wine
    • December 13th, 2017
    • 7:30 AM – 8:45 AM
    • Sentinel Hotel – 614 SW 11th Portland, OR 97205
      • Oregon’s wine industry has a big economic impact, with more than $3.35 billion statewide in the last year, including $527 million in wages from wine-related jobs. Despite the industry being male-dominated, women are breaking the glass ceiling and influencing Oregon’s top wineries. Join us for a holiday celebration to meet some the leading women in Oregon’s wine industry and learn how they are making an impact.

 

  • Business After Hours at PDX Pop Up Shops

      • Business after Hours offers an opportunity to create new business relationships by networking in a relaxed setting that offers delicious appetizers, door prizes, and refreshments.

  • PDX Pop-Up Shops
    • Pioneer Place – 700 SW Fifth Ave., Portland, OR 97204
    • PDX Pop-Up Shops return Nov. 16–Dec. 24, 2017, housing local designers and artists in vacant storefronts in downtown Portland. Located inside Pioneer Place mall (700 SW Fifth Ave) and the Standard Insurance Center (955 SW Fourth Ave), they offer an annual opportunity to shop small businesses — both indoors and in person.

 

  • Tech Help
    • Friday, December 15th, 2017

      • Do you have technology questions? Meet one-on-one with a friendly, knowledgeable Tech Helper who will help you find answers to questions about mobile devices, websites, downloading, e-readers, getting started with tech, and much more.
      • If you need help with an Android or iPhone smartphone, iPad, tablet or laptop, please bring it with you, along with your username and password, or we may not be able to help.
      • Some locations require registration, please check the event description.
      • Drop-in sessions and appointments are 30 minutes each.

  • Fun Basketball Show

      • The Original Harlem Globetrotters are on the road for their action-packed tour! A star-studded roster will have fans on the edge of their seats to witness the ball handling wizardry, basketball artistry and one-of-a-kind family entertainment that thrills fans of all ages. Join Globetrotter stars after the game where they will stay for an autograph, photograph and high five sessions for fans (subject to availability).
