November is here! Fall is in full force and the holidays are right around the corner. Can you hear the Christmas music already?  These last few months of the year are all about family and those you love. Spend time with those you love with these fun events going on in Tualatin this month. There is everything from a Free Intro to Microsoft Word to a Holiday Tree Lighting!

 

  • Historical Museum First Thursday

      • The Clark County Historical Museum’s First Thursday Museum After Hours event features a presentation by Chinook Vice Chairman Sam Robinson titled “Persistence for Survival – Chinook People Past & Present.” In this talk, Sam will discuss the history of the Chinook Nation’s existence and relationship to the United States from contact to the continuing struggle for federal status.

 

  • NW’s Largest Garage Sale & Vintage Sale

  • Free Intro to Microsoft Word Class

      • Learn how to use Microsoft Word 2013 for free with Goodwill Industries’ job connection program. Topics covered are: the ribbon, formatting text, tabs, margins, bullets, columns, saving documents, how to insert tabs, find and replace, spelling and grammar, charts and tables and line spacing. Classes are held every Tuesday morning and are followed by an Intermediate Word class in the afternoons. Both classes are free of charge.

 

  • Race to Remember

      • The Race to Remember Veterans Day Run is a timed event, which is open to the public on Veterans Day (Saturday, Nov. 11). The race honors all military heroes who have fought for our freedom and is part of the Fort Vancouver Veterans Day Ceremonies and Parade.

 

  • Women Entrepreneurs Organization Meeting

      • The Women Entrepreneurs Organization of SW Washington presents “Social Dos and Taboos of Women in Business” with this month’s keynote speaker, Jennifer Petersen. “Etiquette is about being comfortable with oneself and others,” says Petersen. “It isn’t about rules.” She says that simple social graces make business easier and more pleasant, while faux pas repel prospects and clients. This meeting will also feature spotlights on WEO members.

  • Volunteer – National Family Volunteer Day

      • Bring your family and volunteer to spruce up our newest park. Be ready to dig and spread bark chips, pull weeds, remove invasive plant species and pick up litter. Wear your long pants and closed toed shoes. Tools and snacks provided. All volunteers under 18 must bring a signed minor consent form. We will have extra forms on site for guardians to sign.

  • Community Tree Lighting + Pops Concert
